Portland United head across to Millbrook on Saturday 28th February for a 3:00pm kick-off, looking to make it four straight wins and keep their momentum rolling in the Premier Division.
The Blues arrive in confident mood after three victories on the spin. Results have tightened things up nicely, performances have had steel about them, and there is a growing belief that this side is hitting form at the right time. Winning becomes a habit if you let it, and Portland will be determined not to let standards slip now.
Millbrook, though, won’t make it easy.
Their recent form tells you everything you need to know. A 3–1 win over Hamble Club in the SDFA Senior Cup showed their quality in knockout football, and they followed that up in the league with a thumping 5–0 victory against Wincanton Town. Before that, they went to Bemerton Heath Harlequins and came away with an impressive 3–1 win on the road.
Last weekend they were edged out 3–2 at home by AFC Stoneham, so they will be keen to respond in front of their own supporters. A postponed fixture away at Baffins Milton Rovers means they should be fresh and ready for what promises to be a competitive afternoon.
Millbrook have shown they can score goals, especially at home, and that makes defensive discipline vital for the Blues. Portland’s recent run has been built on organisation, work rate, and taking chances at key moments. If they bring the same intensity and stay switched on, there is no reason they cannot come away with something.
Three wins on the bounce is solid. Four would send a real message.
Kick-off is at 3:00pm on Saturday. The Blues will need everyone on it from the first whistle.
