Portland United Reserves v Holt United
Dorset Premier League
Camp & Satherley Stadium
Wednesday 18th March (7:45pm)

Portland United Reserves produced a disciplined and determined performance to earn a well-deserved point in a 0-0 draw against seventh placed Holt United at the Camp and Satherley Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Coming into the game sitting third from bottom in the Dorset Premier League, the young Blues side showed no signs of hesitation, matching their more experienced opponents from the first whistle. Both sides looked to play on the front foot, creating chances at either end, but defences came out on top in an evenly contested encounter.

Portland, fielding several Under 18s players, demonstrated impressive composure throughout, standing up to a well organised Holt side. The back line held firm under pressure, while going forward the Blues showed glimpses of quality without quite finding the breakthrough.

As the game wore on, Portland utilised their squad well, making several changes to maintain energy levels, with all five substitutes introduced during the second half. The fresh legs helped ensure the intensity remained high, and the Blues continued to compete strongly in all areas of the pitch.

In the end, it was a point gained that will give plenty of encouragement, particularly given the youthful nature of the side and the quality of the opposition.

Man of the Match went to Harvey Davies, who put in a strong performance and worked hard throughout, just like the rest of the team.
