Portland United have been given a home tie against Downton in the first round of the Velocity Wessex League Cup.
Although not the opening competitive fixture of the season, the cup tie will be one of the first for Kyle Critchell’s side, who come up against familiar opposition in Premier Division outfit Downton.
Portland finished 17th last season, just one place and four points ahead of Downton. The two sides already have a bit of history, with Greg Borthwick and Josh Williams having briefly joined the Robins midway through the campaign, before both returned to the Camp & Satherley.
Borthwick even scored twice against us in a 3-2 defeat at The Nest back in December — just adding a bit more spice to the upcoming fixture.
No date has been confirmed yet for the first-round ties.
