Swanage Town & Herston U18 1-1 Portland United U18
Dorset League U18 Division 1
Days Park. Sunday 29th March. (2:00pm)

Portland United U18s battled to a hard-earned 1-1 draw away to Swanage Town & Herston U18s in Dorset League U18 Division 1 action at Days Park on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts started brightly and looked sharp in the early exchanges, moving the ball well and asking questions of the Portland back line. Their pressure paid off as they took the lead in the first half, with Sullivan finding the net to give Swanage the advantage.

Portland gradually settled into the contest and began to impose themselves, with Fisher particularly influential in midfield, breaking up play and driving the visitors forward. Despite a few promising moments, the away side went into the break trailing by a single goal.

After the restart, Portland showed greater urgency and purpose. Rodgers proved a constant threat going forward, and it was his quality that led to the equaliser. A well-delivered ball found Roy, who made no mistake in finishing to bring Portland level.

The game remained competitive throughout the second half, with both sides pushing for a winner. Portland introduced fresh legs through Bament, Bobora-David, Ellis and Burrows, which added energy and helped maintain their attacking intent.

Swanage’s task became more difficult late on when Fontana was shown a red card, reducing the hosts to ten men. Portland looked to take advantage in the closing stages, but the home side defended resolutely to hold on for a share of the spoils.

In the end, it was a fair result in a well-contested match, with Fisher earning Player of the Match honours for a commanding display in the middle of the park.
