Portland United 3 – 0 Bournemouth Poppies
Camp & Satherley Stadium, 4th October 2025 – 3:00pm

On a bright but blustery afternoon at the Camp & Satherley Stadium, Portland United and Bournemouth Poppies faced off in testing conditions at the tail end of Storm Amy. With the wind swirling unpredictably, it was always going to be a question of which side could adapt best.

The Blues made the early running and, with the wind at their backs, took the lead after just 15 minutes. Patrick Jenkins picked up the ball in space and produced a superb individual effort, weaving through defenders before firing home to give Portland the perfect start.

Half-Time: Portland United 1–0 Bournemouth Poppies

After the restart, the hosts continued to look the more composed of the two sides. On 56 minutes, Remus Nixon doubled the advantage with a spectacular scissor kick inside the area — a finish as sharp as the wind that whipped across the ground.

Manager Kyle Critchell introduced Hayden Scott for Josh Camp on 84 minutes, a move that injected fresh energy into the Blues’ attack. Four minutes later, the in-form Nixon struck again, latching onto a loose ball and rifling a low drive past the helpless Bournemouth keeper Oliver Plunkett from 15 yards to make it 3–0 and seal a well-earned brace.

Late changes saw Darren Husher, Ben Moss, and Tom Peach enter the action deep into stoppage time as Portland saw out the game with professionalism and control.

When the final whistle blew, the Blues could be proud of a disciplined performance in difficult conditions. They mastered the elements, defended resolutely, and showed their cutting edge in front of goal, a result that sends them into next weekend’s tough trip to Andover New Street full of confidence.
