Portland United U18s 2–0 Hamworthy Recreation U18s
Camp & Satherley Stadium – Sunday 5th October 2025, 2:00pm
A bright and breezy afternoon set the stage at Camp & Satherley Stadium as Portland United U18s welcomed Hamworthy Recreation U18s in a spirited clash that showcased the Blues’ flair and composure.
From the first whistle, both sides pressed for dominance, but it was Portland United who made the early statement. On 30 minutes, the talismanic Corey Roy weaved through the Ham Rec defence and fired a precise strike into the back of the net, giving the Blues a deserved 1–0 lead. The half-closed with Portland holding their advantage, confident and organized.
The second half mirrored the first, with Hamworthy attempting to force an equaliser. Yet the Blues’ defence remained resolute, and their counter-attacking threat proved decisive. On 63 minutes, Preston Hepburn doubled the lead, expertly finishing a well-worked move to leave the visitors chasing shadows.
Managerial changes injected fresh legs as Sebastian Bobora-David and Harvey Davies made way for Matt James and Syrus Ellis on 70 minutes. Further substitutions followed with Preston Hepburn replaced by Jack Ansell and Matt James handing over to Archie Lampard on 79 minutes, keeping the energy high until the final whistle.
Portland’s defensive line held firm to secure a well-earned 2–0 victory, leaving the young Blues in high spirits as they look ahead to their 3rd round qualifying FA Youth Cup tie against Oxford City U18s the week commencing 13th October.
