Match Preview: Portland United v Andover New Street
Camp & Satherley Stadium
Saturday 14th February, 3:00pm
Portland United return to home soil this Saturday as Andover New Street make the trip to the Camp & Satherley Stadium for what promises to be a proper Premier Division test.
The visitors arrive in decent nick. Their midweek fixture at Brockenhurst fell victim to the weather, but prior to that they had put together an impressive run. A 3–1 win away at Andover Town in the NHDFA Senior Cup showed their ability to perform under pressure, while league victories over New Milton Town 2–0 at home and Hamworthy Recreation 3–0 away underline their strength at both ends of the pitch.
Their only blemish in the last five was a 2–0 home defeat to AFC Stoneham just before Christmas, but since then they have responded well. Three wins from their last four completed matches tells its own story. They carry a goal threat and have shown they can keep things tight when needed.
For Portland, this is about making home advantage count. The Camp & Satherley Stadium has to be a place where teams know they are in for a battle from the first whistle. Against a side in form, intensity and concentration will be non-negotiable.
With Andover New Street pushing on and Portland looking to build momentum of their own, expect a competitive afternoon with very little given away cheaply.
Kick off is at 3:00pm. Get behind the lads and make some noise.
