Success on the pitch met with official recognition on Tuesday evening as Portland United were formally presented with the Velocity Wessex Premier League trophy for winning the Club of the Month for February. Before the kickoff of the match between the Blues and Downton, First Team manager Kyle Critchell accepted the award on behalf of the club.
The presentation was made by Velocity Wessex League Club Representative Giles Kilshawe-Fall, marking a period of dominant form for the island side.
The award follows a sensational run of results throughout February, where Portland United remained unbeaten and secured maximum points to climb the league standings.
Their clinical performance across the month included a 6-1 home victory against Cowes Sports, a 2-0 win at home to Andover New Street, a gritty 1-0 win away at East Cowes Victoria, and a 2-1 victory on the road at Millbrook. The “Club of the Month” title serves as a testament to the tactical discipline instilled by Critchell and the clinical execution of the squad.
With four wins from four games, the Blues have solidified their reputation as one of the most formidable units in the Premier Division as the season enters its final stages.
