On a bright, spring afternoon at the Camp & Satherley Stadium, Portland United Reserves fought to a 2-2 draw in a crucial relegation six-pointer against Bridport Reserves, who sit just below them in the table.
Bridport opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, catching Portland off guard. Moles then equalised in the 29th minute with a well-taken finish, but the visitors struck again before half-time to take a 2-1 lead into the break, despite being reduced to ten men.
The second half saw Portland make tactical changes, bringing on Moors in the 28th minute and Walsh in the 76th. The substitutes added fresh energy, and it was Walsh who struck late to secure a dramatic 2-2 equaliser, earning a vital point in the relegation battle.
Davies was outstanding throughout, dominating midfield and earning Player of the Match honours, while Ennals showed composure in goal and McCarthy’s creativity kept Bridport under pressure at key moments.
