Portland United Reserves produced a strong performance on the road to claim a deserved 2-1 victory against Verwood Town, overturning the hosts to take all three points.

The visitors started brightly and were rewarded midway through the first half. On 25 minutes, Billy Hathaway found the breakthrough, finishing well to give Portland the lead and settle the side into the game. Portland continued to press and looked comfortable going into the interval with the advantage.

At the break, Portland reshuffled their side, introducing Joshua Hanger, and the change had an immediate impact. Just a minute into the second half, Hanger made his mark, scoring on 47 minutes to double Portland’s lead and put the visitors firmly in control.

Verwood responded after falling two goals behind and managed to pull a goal back later in the match, setting up a tense finish. However, Portland remained disciplined and organised, seeing out the remainder of the game to secure an impressive away win.

Further changes during the second half saw Sebastian Bobora-David, George Ross-Mackenzie and Liam Gould introduced as Portland managed the game effectively and protected their advantage until the final whistle.

It proved to be a solid team display from the Blues, with their early second-half strike ultimately proving decisive as they returned home with a well-earned victory.
