Biography

In his playing days, Kyle Critchell enjoyed a successful youth career. Critchell signed his scholarship / professional terms for Southampton FC, where he played in a team that both won the academy Premier League and reached an FA Youth Cup final. Also representing Wales at junior level. Injuries hampered Critchell’s career, the highest level he played at being League One with Chesterfield. Bringing his playing career to an end with Portland United.

He stayed with the Blues, taking his first steps into coaching was as assistant manager as Portland won the Wessex Division One. Then becoming the first team manager in 2023, successfully navigating the team to survival, even finishing just outside of the playoff positions. Following a break away from football, the former Weymouth and Dorchester defender returned in January 2025, guiding the club into the Southern League Division One South for the first time in the Portland United history.
