Portland United Under-18s were crowned Dorset League Cup champions after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over local rivals Weymouth FC Under-18s, following a 1–1 draw in normal time.
Played under bright skies and warm sunshine at Milborne St Andrew Sports Ground, the final was a closely contested affair between two well-matched sides. Both teams showed strong intent from the first whistle, but it was Portland who struck first, with James Coat finding the back of the net to give the Blues a deserved lead.
Weymouth responded well, pressing for an equaliser and eventually drawing level before the end of the 90 minutes. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner in regulation time.
With no extra time played, the match was decided by penalties. In a nerve-shredding shootout, both teams kept their cool from the spot, but it was Portland United who edged it 7–6, sparking scenes of celebration from the young Blues and their supporters.
It was a fantastic showcase of youth football, full of commitment, skill, and sportsmanship—capping off a memorable league and cup campaign for Portland United Under-18s.
