STATEMENT
Portland United Football Club would like to provide supporters and the wider Weymouth and Portland community with an important update regarding our Boxing Day fixture against Weymouth.
Following positive discussions with Weymouth Football Club, we have agreed to reverse the fixture, meaning the match will now be played at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday 26 December 2026.
We fully appreciate that many supporters will have been looking forward to welcoming Weymouth to the Camp & Satherley Stadium on Boxing Day, and we understand that this news may be disappointing.
However, as a new Step 4 club, we are currently undertaking a significant programme of improvements to the Camp & Satherley Stadium. These include a new covered stand for 120 supporters, additional turnstiles and a further medical room, along with other improvements to the ground and its facilities.
With a fixture of this size expected to attract a very large crowd, we believe it is important to allow this work to continue so that our stadium is ready to provide the best possible experience for our supporters, visiting supporters and the wider local community. We are also very conscious of our responsibility to our near neighbours and want to ensure that local residents and businesses are not unnecessarily inconvenienced by what is expected to be a particularly busy matchday.
The fixture will therefore be reversed, with Weymouth hosting Portland United on Boxing Day.
Portland United will then welcome Weymouth to the Camp & Satherley Stadium on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, 29 March 2027, when the improvements being made to our home will be ready to showcase.
We know this is not the outcome some supporters will have hoped for, but this decision has been taken with the long-term interests of both clubs’ supporters and our local community firmly in mind.
We thank everyone for their patience, understanding and continued support as we work to make the Camp & Satherley Stadium a venue that Portland United and the whole community can be proud of.
With thanks for your continued support,
The Portland United Football Club Committee
