Portland United Reserves continued their pre-season campaign on Saturday afternoon with a competitive 1-1 draw against Puddletown FC at the Camp and Satherley Stadium.
In their fourth friendly of the summer, the Blues looked to build on recent performances under clear skies and warm conditions, with both sides showing intent early on in an evenly matched contest.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Sonny Cleaton marked an excellent performance with a composed finish to put Portland ahead and give the hosts a deserved lead heading into the break.

The second half mirrored the first, with chances at both ends as the tempo remained high. Portland looked to press home their advantage but were unable to add to their tally, and in the 83rd minute, Puddletown levelled the score with a well-worked goal, ensuring the honours were shared on the day.
It was a positive outing for both teams, with Portland showing promising signs ahead of the new season.
Portland United Reserves now face two more friendlies before the Wessex League campaign kicks off in earnest. They travel to Dorchester Sports Reserves next Saturday (26th July), followed by a final warm-up at home to Chickerell United on the last Saturday of the month.
The competitive season begins Saturday 9th August, with a tough opening fixture away at Poole Borough at Turlin Moor.
