Westland Sports U18 0-3 Portland United U18
Dorset League U18 Division 1
Alvington Development Centre. 2:00pm
Portland United Under 18s produced a strong and disciplined performance on Sunday afternoon as they travelled to the Alvington Development Centre and came away with a convincing 3–0 victory over Westland Sports U18 in the Dorset League U18 Division 1.
The visitors started brightly and quickly settled into their rhythm, moving the ball confidently and looking dangerous whenever they pushed forward. Portland United U18 controlled large spells of possession during the opening period, with the defence remaining organised and denying the hosts any clear opportunities.
Portland’s pressure paid off midway through the half when Roy opened the scoring. A well-worked move saw Hepburn deliver a precise pass into the area, allowing Roy to finish confidently and give the visitors a deserved lead.
The hosts tried to respond but Portland remained composed at the back, with the midfield working tirelessly to break up play and launch further attacks. As the half progressed, the visitors continued to look the more threatening side.
Shortly before the break, Portland doubled their advantage. Hepburn was again the provider, delivering another excellent ball which was met by Ross-Mackenzie, who finished well to make it 2–0 and put Portland firmly in control heading into the second half.
After the interval Westland attempted to push forward in search of a way back into the game, but Portland’s defence remained solid and dealt comfortably with the pressure. The visitors continued to threaten on the counter attack, using their pace and movement to stretch the home side.
With the game entering its later stages, Portland sealed the result with a third goal. Substitute Burrows made an immediate impact, finishing from a well-placed pass by Bobora-David to cap off an excellent team performance and secure a deserved 3–0 victory.
It was an impressive display from the young Blues, combining strong defensive organisation with clinical finishing to take all three points on the road.
